Auto-post to Facebook
You can find this option under "Automatic exports" in your Soup's options panel.
When you authenticate with Facebook and grant our application the rights requested, we will automatically post what you publish on Soup to your Facebook wall as well – including reposts, but excluding imported items (ie. tweets, Flickr images, etc. – to prevent duplication) and reactions (because they would lack the context required to understand them).
This feature is not available for groups at this time – sorry!

Who posted this video?
We're running some tests of video advertising in Friends and Everyone streams.
You'll only see these commercial videos when a video targeted at your country is available, and never more than once every 48 hours. Of course you can simply scroll past it if it doesn't catch your interest, it will not autoplay.

As of 2010/04/17, we're testing these videos for post permalinks as well, if the viewer is not logged in to Soup and does not come from a *.soup.io link. They replaced the previously used Google ads, which were a much more foreign type of content than a viral video.

How long does it take to update content from other services?
That depends on lots of factors: Whether we have a live connection
to that service (we do for Twitter), how often the feeds have new
content (if we notice something is frequently updated, we'll check it more often), the
current work load of our importing server, etc.
"A few hours" is as good as it gets for an average estimate.

Automatic imports: Facebook
1. Go to this page on Facebook (log in if you need to)
2. Copy the URL that the link "Your Notifications" at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar leads to
3. Enter this link on Soup. Don't worry, your notifications will not be imported, we're just using that URL to extract some required parameters we need to fetch the real RSS feed.

Posting by e-mail
To post to your soup by e-mail, all you need to do is to send mail to the address in your soup's admin panel, in the section "Post by e-mail."
Mails with images attached to them will be converted to Image posts (one image post per image attached). Their Subject line becomes the image's body.
Mails with any other file attached will become a File post. We'll also show the mp3 player widget if you send an mp3 to your soup.
Mails with an http: link on a line of its own in the mail body become Links. The mail's Subject becomes the link title, the rest of the mail body goes in the post body.
Mails with a link to a YouTube video (or any other video site soup recognizes) on a line of its own in the mail body, it'll be converted to a Video post automatically. We use only the Subject line as the video text.
Mails whose subject starts with "quote from" become Quotes. The text after "quote from" will be used as the attribution.
Anything else becomes a text post with the optional Subject line as its title.
E-mail posting and content types
We try to be smart about the post content types we create for each e-mail you send us:Mails with images attached to them will be converted to Image posts (one image post per image attached). Their Subject line becomes the image's body.

Posting to Soup from an iPhone
The above might sound sound very familiar if you own an iPhone and you have tried the "Share this"/"E-mail this" buttons in the various pre-installed apps. From every standard application that can share things by e-mail, you can send mail to your posting address and we'll do the right thing with it.A word on security
The posting address you see in your soup is unique: Whoever has access to it can use it to post to your soup (but they can't log in with it, or delete posts). If you suspect that the address has fallen in the wrong hands, click the "Regenerate address" button in your admin panel, and we'll throw away the old address and create a new one for you.Filtering your Soup
There are a few parameters that you can add to Soup URLs to filter what content to display:
